In some cases, massage can lead to a client feeling sore or bruised the next day, therefore it is imperative that the client, while receiving massage, inform the therapist at all times if the pressure given is comfortable. Soreness from a massage is often the result of failure to communicate the pressure you are comfortable with. Any soreness or discomfort the next day is entirely due to the amount of pressure the client indicated, or failed to indicate. Renewing Touch Massage's therapists will ask quite often during the session, if the pressure is ok. It is the clients responsibility to inform the therapist. Renewing Touch Massage and its therapists are not responsible for a clients inability to inform the therapists if the pressure was too much.
Massage also has health effecting changes, which it can induce. An example of this, is for diabetics. Massage can lower blood sugar, and therefore is highly important that a health screen be done to assure you are healthy enough for massage, and that the therapist is aware of conditions that might conflict with techniques that could be used.
For women that are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or suspect that they may be pregnant, must inform the therapist before a session, as certain pressure points are proven to induce labor, and must be avoided with those that are pregnant.
Failure to answer your health history form with absolute honesty and failure to communicate pressure given by the therapist, negates any lawsuits against Renewing Touch Massage and its Therapists.
First time getting a massage?
A lot of clients or people in general that have never had a massage always wonder or ask, "well how does it work? Or Do I have to fully undress?"
All clients are always instructed by a reputable therapist, to dress down to your level of comfort.
Renewing Touch Massage Therapists will always ask you to dress to your level of comfort, with the sheets pulled up to your neck line, and will only expose the body part that they are working on at a time.
Therapists will also always leave the room, and are expected to knock before entering to assure you are covered so that you remain comfortable at all times.
A complete draping procedure is clearly explained in your Health History packet in which you will fill out during your first visit, and on a yearly basis thereafter......
